All-female architectural designers Muro Studio completed works on the 2023 opening of a branch of Argentina and Uruguay’s popular restaurant chain, Fabric Sushi.
Fabric Sushi is known for serving up high quality sushi and nikkei cuisine to foodie aficionados who flock to the brand’s various venues to devour a menu brimming with Peruvian flavours and textures. From ceviches, tartar, and nikkei plates to a sushi bar serving a selection of makis, niguiris, sashimis, tamakis, and more, the restaurant prides itself on offering the “highest quality products at the best possible price;” this opening located in Buenos Aires neighbourhood Villa Luro sure to continue in the same vein.
Interiors here in Villa Luro were inspired by the ocean, specifically its shapes and textures, Muro Studio incorporating elements including a greenish marble countertop that resembles water and its caustic reflections, as well as pending bouquets of luminaires of various lengths hanging above the tables, which nod to the irregular shapes of coral.
The bar is considered the main element of the premises, occupying practically an entire side. Curved lines are reiterated throughout in both the architecture and the equipment, predominantly found on shelves, tables, supporting furniture, and even on door handmade handles. A side mirror wall visually enlarges the space and reflects the light that enters through the large windows, whilst a second mirror arranged in an ‘L’ shape generates a game of infinite visuals and serves as a subtle limit to the access to the bar and kitchen.
Serving from day to night in a space that can adapt to changes as the hours progress, in Fabric Sushi Villa Luro, Muro Studio have delivered another winning sushi sanctum for the Argentinian capital.
