Located in the heart of NYC, CARTA Wine Bar offers a curated selection of wines from family-owned producers, alongside a menu of artisan cheese, tapas and desserts, from an intimate 30-seat venue that combines simplicity and elegance.
The new Mediterranean-inspired wine bar is a love letter to Spain, Greece and Italy, founded by a trio of friends whose vision was to create “a warm, welcoming gathering place outside of the home and workplace for New Yorkers of all walks of life.” Situated in the West Village, CARTA was designed by Anatomy Studio with interiors that embody a luxury lifestyle in an unpretentious space. Natural material such as raw concrete and stone alongside preserved exposed bricks, are softened with a calming neutral colour scheme and versatile layout that caters to both solo diners and groups.
Wine director Rebecca Powelson has curated a wine program that includes organic and biodynamic wines from family-owned producers in countries within the Mediterranean. With offerings from France, Greece, Italy, Spain, and Portugal, customers are guaranteed a memorable experience with each pour.
The snacks and tapas menus showcase bold, seasonal ingredients with Mediterranean influences, think Marcona almonds, roasted chickpeas and marinated olives; a cheese and charcuterie section with manchego, parmigiano, marinated feta, prosciutto, salami, soppressata, and spicy chorizo, served with crackers, bread and seasonal accompaniments. Tapas offerings include jamon serrano, pan con tomate, fresh burrata, white truffle potato croquette, gambas al ajillo, and a selection of sandwiches.
“Curated by Carta” is the wine bar’s marketplace, enabling guests to purchase and take home many of the produce and flavours they’ve enjoyed in the restaurant, and attempt to recreate their favourite dishes in the comfort of their own homes.
For an authentic Mediterranean experience in New York City, CARTA Wine Bar offers the very best from this evocative part of the world.
