From Suite 114, a Toronto prohibition-style vintage bar that sadly had to close its doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic, rises Suite 115, a 2.0 version of the original where “being genuine, staying unpretentious, and maintaining a ‘zero-ego’ mindset” is key in the brand motto.
Located in the heart of the city’s downtown, this speakeasy is far from your average cocktail bar. Designed by multi-disciplinary design studio Atelier Sun, the venue evokes curiosity while embracing the charm of traditional bar culture, Andrew Sun, principal of the studio commenting how they “wanted to create something that lives between mystery and warmth. It’s a space that sparks people’s curiosity.”
With a street-facing lounge and bar, passers-by can sneak a peek of what lies behind the façade, and as day turns to night, a bold red glow spills out onto College Street, signalling to guests that the bar is open, and to come on in for the magic to happen. Bathed in warm orange and red hues, this area is reminiscent of the last light of sunset, while a large gradient mirror reflects the streetscape blending the vibrant city energy with the soft ambient glow of the bar.
Find and continue through a concealed door to gain access to a hidden bar, a zone where the design continues to captivate with slim, linear pendant lights that run the length of the room, casting a glow upon red shelving that stretches across the back wall.
Focusing on craft cocktails and small dishes in an inclusive speakeasy environment, Suite 115 is a captivating space where expertise and top notch hospitality come together under the glow of a permanently setting sun.
