With 18 rooms and suites including eight King Rooms, eight Queen Rooms and two King Suites, new boutique hotel, The Maidstone New Orleans, is set to offer guests a spirited escape that is both fresh and authentically New Orleanian.
Under the ownership of ISMD, following their successful revamp of The Maidstone East Hampton property in 2024, the The Maidstone Hotel debuts in the South, the midcentury property having received new life in its transformation of a historic building into modern-day stopover. Located in Midcity, the premises’s storied past dates back to 1956, when it was known as the Crescent Motel, a classic American motor lodge. Today, the New Orleans icon has been reimagined as a vibrant retreat perfectly situated in the heart of NOLA.
Boasting a full design touch-up led by Studio Tre, great care was taken to renovate and restore the architectural channel to its original state, while interiors reference American mid-century design, as well as the hotel’s history.
Guest rooms feature cork flooring, custom birch millwork and furniture, custom moon tapestries fabricated by Oaxacan textile artist Ismael Gutierrez Montano, and inviting beds kitted out in Frette Linens. Public areas, meanwhile, are spaces for guests to feel at home. The lobby is home to built-in banquettes with loose cushions, and decorative beams that hug the ceiling and contrast with terrazzo flooring and a leopard wool rug. Lush greenery is found throughout, more so in the gardens and grounds which were completely re-envisioned and overhauled, creating a space to gather, lounge and indulge.
The perfect respite from the Louisiana heat, guests can dip into the saltwater pool complete with a bathing deck and tiled wall fountain. Green and white striped solar shades dance along with the architectural choreography, with a vibrant mix of indigo, chartreuse, olive green and electric oranges textiles and furnishings throughout.
