Lina Stores Shoreditch, London

Much-loved Italian eatery Lina Stores arrive in Shoreditch with a staggering space and a clandestine cocktail bar for those in the know...

A historic London landmark meets timeless Italian charm at Lina Stores Shoreditch, the latest opening from the much-loved Italian eatery. Designed by award-winning studio A-nrd, the new East End outpost takes residence in a grand Grade II-listed former bank, originally built in 1868, seamlessly blending its historic grandeur with the signature elegance of Lina Stores.

Stripping back layers of modern alterations, A-nrd restored the space to its former glory while injecting a fresh take on post-war European brasserie style. Today, the bustling 150-seat venue is split across two floors, a place where convivial dining, an intimate private room, and a hidden basement cocktail bar collide to create an all-day destination giving serious dolce vita feels.

Walls and window frames reveal exposed plaster, contrasted with painted niches and pistachio green arches in Lina Stores’ unmistakable hue. The open-plan dining floor buzzes with energy and features an array of seating options ensuring an uninterrupted view of the magic taking place in the open kitchen. Custom low-level banquettes in deep Hunter green jacquard velvet frame the space, while a mix of dark oak bistro tables, Verde Guatemala marble accents, and pistachio leather-upholstered chairs inject contrast and add texture.

Beyond a grand arched timber door, a private dining space plays with reflections, as mirrored runners bounce light off pistachio-green walls, adding a playful touch. At the rear, a deep burgundy entryway hints at what lies below: Bar Lina, a sultry, monochromatic hideaway of plush red carpets, moody lighting and Rosso Levanto marble surfaces. With its unmarked entrance and seductive lounge aesthetic, it’s a nod to late ‘70s New York, where Italian glamour meets cocktail-hour cool.

On the design of Lina Stores Shoreditch, A-nrd founder Alessio Nardi comments “we wanted to create a space for Lina Stores that felt authentic and familiar, but at the same time was surprising. Developing their material and colour palette, I believe we created a richly layered interior for both levels, full of subtle design details which celebrates the fabric of the historic building and creates an immersive and new Lina Stores experience.”

Another hit for Nardi and his studio, another stellar space for Lina Stores, complete with a clandestine secret for those in the know, Lina Stores Shoreditch is sure to become a much-loved local for this hippest of ‘hoods.
