A taste of Rome has arrived in London as Agrodolce, the revered restaurant near Trevi Fountain, opens its first UK location on Fitzrovia’s Charlotte Street. Founded by Antonio Russo and Maria Soldatova, the new outpost brings the same dedication to traditional Roman cuisine that has made Agrodolce a long-time hit in the Eternal City.
Agrodolce — translating to ‘bittersweet’ — is an homage to the heart and soul of Rome, where pasta is an art form, and every dish is made with dedication and love. The main focus of the menu is handmade pasta, with signature dishes including Tonnarelli Alla Crema Di Zafferano Con Tartare Di Gambero; Pappardelle con ragù bianco; as well as Roman classics like Mezzemaniche Alla Carbonara and Bucatini All’Amatriciana. Starters channel Italy’s vibrant street food culture with Crocchette di Patate (crispy croquettes with mozzarella and black pepper) and stracciatella-topped bruschetta, while desserts invite indulgence with silky panna cotta finished with strawberries or chocolate.
The drinks menu is as carefully curated as the food. Italian wines, handpicked by Maria and Antonio, showcase the best of Lazio and beyond, from bold Barolos to refined Chianti Classicos. Cocktails lean towards chic, with highlights including an Agrodolce Spritz, a Roman-inspired take on the classic aperitivo, and a refreshing Limoncello Spritz.
Interiors mirror the old-world charm of its Roman counterpart, and Agrodolce London is all about the atmosphere. From vintage crockery sourced from Italian markets, to deep green marble tables and chandeliers, guests can expect a dining experience that nods to tradition while exuding effortless elegance.
With the essence of ‘fatta con amore’ (‘made with love’) found in every mouthful, Agrodolce brings an Italian icon to the heart of the capital, allowing Londoners to experience for themselves the very best of the good life.
