Set to be located near Stuttgart, Germany, new dental clinic ‘Edel Leicht’ (which translates to ‘exquisite lightness’) will embody the concepts of painless procedures, professionalism, comfort, and premium class service combined with sleek, modern aesthetics, an ecological sensibility, and bags of fun for little people.
The concept comes from Ukraine- and Cyprus-based studio, ZIKZAK Architects, and sees the use of sustainable materials as paramount, the team looking to recycled and upcycled elements such as plastic, acrylic, and vintage furniture, alongside natural touches such as tree trunks and straw, which nod to the clinic’s close locality to a forest.
Setting a new standard for dental clinic design, patients will appreciate an interior design that demonstrates how a modern medical facility can simultaneously be elegant, comfortable, and environmentally responsible, whilst the younger visitors will be entertained by the child-friendly area, a playful, imaginative sone where a soft ‘blue monster’ casts a careful eye over them.
Curves also feature heavily in the design as do smooth wall lines, softened textures, semi-transparent sliding doors to the offices, prevalence of light neutral colours, and minimalism. The waiting room is home to a ceiling installation in the form of the dental mirrors that doctors use to examine the oral cavity, as well as custom-made furniture and unconventional art objects.
Adult treatment rooms are “laconic and clean” whilst, in contrast, the children’s offices are equipped with compositions of animals and whimsical creatures on the ceilings in a bid to keep them occupied and comfortable while the dentists carry out their procedures.
Fusing environmental consciousness with with high-tech dentistry, ZIKZAK Architects envisage Edel Leicht as providing patients with a holistic experience where care works in tandem with love for the environment and aesthetic satisfaction. A standout project in modern healthcare design, the dental clinic concept’s fruition could see a new blueprint set for the industry’s approach to aesthetics.
