In the heart of downtown Zapopan, a neighbouring city of Guadalajara Mexico, Zorra Zapopan is the second outpost of Cervecería Zorra, a stunning project brought to fruition by esteemed studios Taller Dinamita and Taller Binario that combines a masterful blend of traditional Mexican craftsmanship and contemporary aesthetics.
A place that celebrates the region’s artisanal heritage, while embracing a distinctly modern approach, Zorra Zapopan spans 220 square metres of construction area within a 280 square metre site. Completed this year, the architectural gem was led by architects Gabriela Chávez García, Vanesa González Palafox, and Arturo Sicilia; the trio creating a space for locals and travellers to hang out, drink craft beer and experience the quintessence of Mexican design.
Upon entering, visitors are cocooned in a warm, earthy atmosphere infused by the prominent use of clay and terracotta tones. The textured walls and indirect lighting enhance the forms, creating an intimate, welcoming ambiance, whilst the he furniture — featuring simple lines and natural materials such as wood and woven fibres — complements the aesthetic of the space, offering comfort and visual harmony. The jewel in the crown is the curved bar, clad in glazed clay tiles and seamlessly integrating with shelves filled with greenery, adding a touch of freshness to the setting.
Every detail of this beautiful new craft beer bar has been carefully considered to connect tradition and modernity. Bringing together two remarkable studios who showcase the richness of local materials and techniques within a modern context, Zorra Zapopan — coupled with its food and beverage offerings — one must simply seek out this gem when in this part of Mexico.
