From Hong Kong to New York, all of life is here in the photography exhibition Burn My Eye (featuring work by the eponymous photographer collective) at Cardiff’s Third Floor Gallery.
Looking intimately at personal life from a public perspective, the collection of eleven artists’ vision of humanity runs the gamut from beautiful to downright scary, with plenty of humour thrown in for good measure. Burn My Eye – the title a reference to both the strange images and their effect on the viewer – features a number of shots in which the principal figure’s eyes are obscured. Our personal favourites are Jason Penner’s Dive, in which a rocker is leaping into a world of pain, and JB Maher’s gormless guy from Dublin. We may be kept awake by the evil-looking kid in the 2009 photo by Jack Simon.
You can see the exhibition at the Bute Street gallery until 28th October.
