One can’t compete with scenery like that surrounding the La Plage Casadelmar hotel, Corsica; instead it’s better to just go with the flow, and that is just what architect Jean-François Bodin did with this beach-front property endorsed by the Design Hotels group.
Bodin, who has under his belt projects in such diverse places as Qatar and Paris, used a sympathetic group of simple materials in the construction of the 15-bedroom venue – volcanic rock, glass, resin and cement – and his colour scheme was also non-invasive. Calling on the existing natural palette, creams, whites and light greys reflect the beach location while focal pieces, notably the striking chairs and soft-furnishings, take their cue from the sea of the Porto Vecchio bay which surrounds the building.
If you like celeb-gazing you can head a little further south down the coast to Palombaggia and Santa Guilia, two of the exclusive islands best beaches, where you can play spot-the-yacht to your heart’s content. A-list.
