Located in the small city of Hudson in upstate New York, The Hudson Merchant House is a boutique inn bursting at the seams with quirky charm under its 18th Century roof. This is not, however, a museum to the colonial period, as you can see from the very modern aesthetic in our pictures. Rather, it’s a contemporary interior – the creation of owners Roy Ardizzone and Mike Webber, which pays enough respect to the history of the building without being slavish.
The pair have been all over the world, picking up influences here, there and everywhere which gives the inside of this merchant house a pleasantly fresh feeling befitting the hotel’s proximity to the famous river. As well as the nifty look of the place, there’s plenty more selling points, including a journey time from The Big Apple of under two hours, and an endorsement from Martha Stewart. No idea why, but we never stop hearing about how highly Americans value the famous jailbird’s opinion on just about everything. Anyway, we’ll join Martha in giving this place the figurative thumbs up.
