We don’t need a qualified medical practitioner to tell us that salads are great for our health – keeping energy levels high and skin clear, fighting off diseases, maintaining good digestive health and so forth. You can’t go wrong with a nice salad. It’s a shame then that salad has got a bit of an image problem. Healthy, yes, but exciting? No. Eating your greens may be good for the heart, but the prospect doesn’t exactly get the pulse racing, does it?
The team from Masquespacio has got other ideas. The Valencia design studio recently packed a suitcase and headed to Germany, and the former capital city of Bonn. Salad bar takeaway Kessalao needed a brand identity and an interior for its premises, and the Spanish team brought all the sunshine of their home country to bear on this supremely vibrant project. Dominated by red, Masquespacio also brought in other colours reminiscent of the Mediterranean coast, and paired the painted metal with natural materials such as pine and raffia. The overall effect is positively bursting with energy, which is how the residents of Bonn will be feeling after a few visits here.
