Out in Brisbane’s creative district of Fortitude Valley there’s a new studio/workshop space that’s looking for local artists and artisans to join the party. Prospect Studios is a sister project to fellow Brissie coworking space Lightspace, and the new premises has seen the team take over two adjoining warehouses to provide one massive creative hub. It’s a place where the area’s designers and makers can set up shop, and offers desk space, meeting rooms and internet access, as well as that all-important positive environment fuelled by a warehouse full of like-minded sorts.
These two buildings once housed a variety of industrial tenants, including a motorcycle repair workshop, a plumber and a construction site office. Now repurposed, the conjoined buildings maintain their double-height rooms with massive steel-framed windows providing all the natural light possible. Polished concrete floors are another surviving feature, and there’s a carefully-curated selection of vintage furniture throughout. The surrounding area boasts heritage-listed cottages and a gym next door, plus Prospect Studios benefits from a laneway garden out back for a quick time-out. In the evenings the place changes pace from workspace to events venue, and is available for hire.
