British design legend Paul Smith‘s flagship store on the corner of Albemarle and Stafford Streets has been significantly extended and now offers one-off pieces along with men’s and women’s clothing and furniture.
Now occupying a portion of the neighbouring property, the store greets customers with an attractive façade of cast iron interlocking circles – Georgian townhouse meets ornate 18th Century shop front. 6a Architects chose the material due to its long-standing use in the London streetscape, and the iron threshold has been designed to polish underfoot with use. Look out for Smith’s three small drawings cast into panels at the entrance.
