We’re not believing for a second that Merivale, the operators of Ms. G’s Asian fusion restobar in Sydney, didn’t notice the name bears a striking similarity to a well-known Asian food additive, so that’s a big tick in the pun column and therefore a cracking start to our look around. Ms. G has urban street smarts aplenty, and they are in evidence right from the word go. A pink neon sign greets you at the front door, and the feature pops up again here and there throughout the four floors, demarcating a new area or pointing you in the right direction.
Reading the graffiti wall essay would keep you busy over the course of a meal if eating solo – either that or send you cross-eyed – and it’s an interesting variation on a pictorial mural. We also like the rope arrangement in the same dining area – perfect for hoisting yourselves out of your seats after overdoing it at one of the eight course Sunday banquets from exec chef Dan Hong and his Glaswegian head chef Paul Donnelly. Top tip is the Stoner’s Delight dessert, which is as wonderfully indulgent as it sounds.
