The phrase “deceptively simple” has never been so apt as when used to describe the creative process of Geoff McFetridge, who has to go to great lengths to achieve the clarity of line and shape that sets his work apart.

The LA-based artist and graphic designer has developed a signature style born from a systematic and constant refinement of his imagery, drawing and redrawing “until only the most essential pieces are left”.
It Looks Like It Says is a collection of new work being shown at Joshua Liner Gallery, New York. In his compositions, the subjects are, through his redrafting process, reduced to segments like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. Each smoothed down and simplified piece has its own distinct colour, and the image remains abstract until all the pieces have been fitted together.
The works mark a new area of interest for McFetridge, who has turned his attention to cars for the first time. The Canadian seldom draws from reference, and his vehicles, like the other elements of his creations, are a fusion of memory and imagination. This exhibition is composed of 10 canvases with several more works on paper; 10 October is the closing date.
