Proving you don’t need to be a pro to create top quality 3D models, VECTARY are soon to launch an online tool for design, customisation and sharing; something 19 year-old designer Matus Danko road-tested in earnest, by producing a piece of furniture in a surprisingly short period of time.
VECTARY told us they combine standard mesh modelling with parametric modelling, helping ‘to generate more complex shapes instead of leaving modelling all the details to the designer’. Until now it was virtually impossible for a beginner to create such shapes, whilst the time factor made assembling an Ikea flatpack look appealing.
The product — a contemporary lamp, named Vivia (living) — took less than 30 minutes to create. Printing, polishing and spraying followed, taking an additional four hours. Afterwards, it was installed using an affordable cord set — the final outcome (an organic lampshade with a contemporary twist) was realised in almost no time at all, with Danko commenting: ‘I thought it would be hard, but working with VECTARY was smooth and easy.
