Taka Sakaeda, Jihan Lee and Lisa Limb bring their acclaimed temaki rolls to Brooklyn, with a new Nami Nori outpost located steps from McCarren Park now open.
With two temaki counters, the menu is exclusive to the Williamsburg location and includes new open-style temaki, sashimi, and crispy rice dishes; alongside their signature temaki rolls and a bar displaying selections of sake, natural wine and beers that highlight Brooklyn brewers and distillers, including Brooklyn Kura, Kato Sake Works, Talea and Coney Island Brewery.
Try the new Cauliflower Dynamite (a vegetarian take on the popular Spicy Crab Dynamite) or Phancy Philly with smoked salmon, caviar, cream cheese and chives, and enjoy them with signature rolls such as X.O. Scallop with tobiko and lemon; Tuna Poke with crispy shallots; or Cucumber Black Sesame with shiso and plum.
MN Design Professional Corporation were in charge of the interiors, the NYC-based architecture firm having also designed the original West Village restaurant. Inspired by modern beach houses and traditional Japanese residences, the designers have created a space that is bright and airy, with neutral shades of sandy brown, cream and dusty rose.
Floor-to-ceiling window paned doors fold up, opening the dining room onto the street and adding extra light, whilst dried floral arrangements with foraged branches, wood and flowers add a distinct touch of the Orient.
With views over McCarren Park and temaki that is gaining a devoured following in New York, this beloved Japanese restaurant brings temaki, sake and good times to the city’s hottest ‘hood.
