After a tough time, Ukraine interior designers, Rina Lovko Studio, are looking to share “more beauty and kindness to the world,” and thus have decided to start sharing their projects once again, bringing to our attention Jolly Beauty Salon in Kyiv, who have reopened their doors to the public following a period of closure due to the heartbreaking invasion.
An oasis of self care, Jolly features natural materials, raw textures, a soft colour palette and wavy shapes in decorative elements which hark to sandy beaches. Vintage furniture, wood and soft lighting create a warm ambience allowing customers to relax and disconnect from the real world, whilst being attentively pampered and preened.
Located in a handsome 1950s building in the city’s business district, Rina Lovko Studio removed the graffiti and signage from the outside of what was a hairdressing salon; producing a façade that’s inline with the rhythm of what waits inside. Taking six months to complete, the project included an overhaul of the entrance and creating a waiting area, reception area, makeup counter, four styling and makeup chairs, a manicure table, a hair wash sink, beauty parlour, staff area, restroom and more for the beauty salon; the 77 square metre space a fine spot to find a plethora of pleasure in.
From the monolithic reception table made of quartz stone to vintage Walter Knoll chairs, the design details here are as abundant as the individual attention each customer receives from the hospitable beauticians, manicurists and colourists. A wonderful respite in an otherwise dark time for the city, Jolly Beauty Salon is the sort of lift we all need.
