Studio Modijefsky created the interior for unpretentious French dining spot Ami, an all-day bistro featuring tradition Parisian café vibes, located in Amsterdam‘s bohemian De Pijp neighbourhood.
With a playful, eclectic modern design aesthetic, interiors include a palette of soft red tones, vintage orange and crispy blues, along with timeless materials such as marbles, tiles, polished leathers, textured glass and an abundant use of mirrors.
The entrance to Ami is located on the corner of a building, whose plinth is covered in black and orange tiles, something the design of the terrace was set to amplify with black and white striped awnings paired with warm coral orange and custom-made wooden furniture mixed with yellow table tops and black table legs. It’s quite the welcome.
Inside, a fragmented tiled floor nods to the Parisian hospitality scene, whilst the floor curves around an unmissable bar — thanks to the eye-catching glossy ceiling above — where a black and white mosaic serves as a background. Spherical lamps fill the space with a warm glow and highlight said bar as the heart of this hip venue.
Custom wooden tables with pink granite inserts stand in front of a beautiful banquette covered in matt and polished leather, a red orange glow attracts attention, its hue coming from a curious neon composition that crawls across the ceiling and is reflected in the mezzanine’s many mirrors. Walls are covered in either white and pink tiles and finished with textured plaster, whilst warm alabaster lamps embrace the space and add a touch of romance.
Speaking of romance, the basement, with its handful of seats, is a wonderful spot to enjoy an intimate evening; this and the mezzanine filled with playful illustrations of abstract objects and bar scenes, all reached via a custom-made railing and staircase.
A bar du vins with an urban twist in a setting for people to connect, sit back, relax and enjoy the good things in life, Ami Amsterdam is another stellar design project from the folk at Studio Modijefsky.
