The latest restaurant from Ori Menashe and Genevieve Gergis, chef-owners of LA’s Bestia and Bavel, is a Middle Eastern gem with food executed using modern techniques and deep-rooted in traditional flavours.
Named after Ori and Genevieve’s daughter Saffron, Saffy’s is an East Hollywood haunt with legit neighbourhood vibes. Designed by architecture firm NCA Studio who worked closely with interior designers Nicky Kaplan Interiors, ‘70s era Moroccan design transports diners to another place and time, while the historical Art Deco building in which the restaurant is housed, reminds guests that they in fact in the US.
Split into three areas, the main dining room features high ceilings, brass chandeliers, stained glass windows and plush seating, an intimate space to enjoy a lingering lunch or dinner. The bar area is a buoyant zone characterised by a long curving bar, playful wall patterns, and arched doorways that make it perfect for cocktail or two at the end of the day. Creating mouthwatering Middle Eastern delicacies, the kitchen is a evocative area with pink hues, golden accents, light wood tones and Art Deco-stained glass that allow diners to gaze directly into where the chefs prepare the plates using either a wood fired shawarma rotisserie, wood burning oven, or hearth.
For all your flavours reminiscent of Middle Eastern home-style cooking needs combined with warm and energetic hospitality and bags of vibrant design in an absolutely stunning Art Deco building, Saffy’s Los Angeles is sure to be another big hit for Ori and Genevieve.
