Located in Għargħur, a beautiful hilltop village in the Northern Region of Malta, the King George is a boutique offering that invites guests to indulge in luxury while immersing themselves in the rich tapestry of the hotel’s surroundings.
Designed in 2020 by 3DM Architecture, with a brief that called for “a renovation and extension of an old house of character”, the project was a sensitive one that sought to understand the essence of the old village, retaining its authenticity while at the same time creating a new, unique experience.
Simplification was key with the architectural firm, who stripped away excess to reveal the true spirit of each space. Guest rooms were curated to showcase only the essentials, allowing functionality to reign supreme without compromising on aesthetic appeal; the King George Għargħur blending seamlessly into the quaint village.
The team also delved deep into the intricacies of spatial experience, meticulously studying view corridors, harnessing natural light, and fine-tuning every detail from furniture to fixtures. Each element was thoughtfully selected to elicit a sense of connection from the moment a guest steps foot into a room to the countless interactions that follow.
Serene and austere whilst retaining homeliness and the right amount of luxury, the King George embodies cosiness and traditional warmth in the beautiful village of Għargħur.
