The Cocochine, Mayfair

Swish new London hotspot, The Cocochine, is a luxe celebration of art, craftsmanship, and gastronomic innovation...

Monday is the opening date for The Cocochine, a new restaurant concept from Hamiltons Gallery owner Tim Jefferies and chef Larry Jayasekara located in a former mews house at 27 Bruton Place off London’s Berkeley Square.

Named after an affectionate term for Tim’s young daughter, The Cocochine is set over four floors, Tim and Larry having approached the property as custodians, preserving and enhancing the building in a renovation project that reimagines and respects the historic Bruton Place premises.

A celebration of art and craftsmanship, The Cocochine’s 28-seat main à la carte dining room is located on the ground level, while the first level is home to a seven-guest chef’s counter with views over the kitchen. The heart of the restaurant, this flexible space also doubles up as a spot for guests to enjoy a pre-dinner drink and canapés, and can be reserved for small private happenings. The basement houses the impressive wine cellar with its collection of fine wines and champagnes including classics from Burgundy and Bordeaux, as well as a selection of iconic wines from around the world that sit alongside boutique and small production varietals.

Following almost two years of delays, the highly anticipated opening means that diners can finally enjoy a series of à la carte dishes inspired by Jayasekara’s travels and highlighting produce from the Rowler Estate, Northamptonshire whose regenerative mixed farmland yields fruit, vegetables, seasonal flowers, and livestock including game as well as beef, lamb and native and rare-breed pigs.

Classically trained but undefined by any particular style, Larry’s cuisine celebrates the ‘joy of eating’, and guests will be delighted by the many other examples of extraordinary ingredients that make an appearance in his dishes.

With luxe interiors, understated elegance, and artwork direct from Hamiltons Gallery, The Cocochine is a restaurant befitting of its prestigious Mayfair address, and one sure to make a big name for itself in the capital’s enviable dining scene.
