Located in Alys Beach, a coastal city along Florida‘s highway 30A, Fonville Press is a market, café and coffee shop which named after John Fonville, a celebrated local known for his laid-back lifestyle and deep appreciation of the Gulf Coast. A place for locals and those passing through, to gather, connect, and appreciate life’s slower moments, this Alys Beach is a perfect homage to its namesake.
Fusing midcentury Malibu-inspired décor with urban and modern elements, Fonville Press was designed by Jeremy and Angie Walton, the husband-and-wife team behind Quest Hospitality and the restaurant’s owners, who looked to the beloved, but since-closed Alys Beach coffee shop and café for inspiration.
With a casual, airy, and coastal feel, architect, Anthony Vallee helped bring Fonville Press to life alongside Jeremy and Angela, and Summer House Design Group who worked on the interior design of the space. Interiors include dark green and salmon coloured accents, an abundance of natural wood, indoor and outdoor seating, as well as playful touches including Tiki mugs adorning the brass bar open shelving, multi-coloured confetti-esque tabletops and pink tasseled umbrellas on the outside terrace.
Revamped from its original 2004 iteration, this design-led hotspot is making a name for itself as a go-to destination for guests who are invited to stop in for a morning coffee or specialty beverage, peruse a selection of take away sundries, or stay for a glass of wine, post-beach day bite, or gourmet market essentials.
Found within the first floor of The Lucian, a stark white, four storey tall residential block in Alys Beach, Fonville Press is the place to head for discerning diners in search of good vibes and laid-back Floridan spirit.
