Inspired by the laid back and timeless elegance of Italy, Pendolino Atlanta is named after an Italian olive tree varietal and opened earlier this year in the city’s Chastain Park neighbourhood; the restaurant from chef and owner Kevin Maxey a charming spot to enjoy delicious simple fare paired with natural wines and classic cocktails.
Designed by Kirby Caldwell Inc., the open plan dining room has views into the open kitchen and wood burning oven, and bestows a welcoming and inviting ambience. It’s a homely setting to sample Maxey’s Italian-inspired menu of antipasti, pizzettes, small plates, salads and delectable entrées such as Veal-Ricotta Meatballs and Gulf Shrimp alla Vodka.
An airy space with a sumptuous retro tinge, the restaurant boasts custom oak and marble tables mixed with large leather booths lit with vintage pendants. Tucked away in the private dining room flooded with natural light, an intimate mix of banquette seating and custom oak tables can be found perched underneath intricate chandeliers sourced from Murano, Italy. Throughout the restaurant, a mix of antiqued commissioned art evokes a timeless feel, painting a storied picture of Pendolino’s origins.
Celebrating delicious, family style food and the enjoyment of time around the table, Pendolino has become quite the staple around Chastain Park, and not just for its inspired menu, rather the combination of great fare and authentic neighbourhood feels.
