We Heart is an online magazine founded in 2007 by then web and graphic designer, James Davidson, who was quickly followed into the business by his wife Lisa. Originally focussed solely on design, the platform evolved over time to feature inspiring places and spaces, with an increased focus on travel, events, art and design at large. The husband and wife team have worked with brands from Veuve Clicquot to Nike, Audi to Fendi, Ford to Macallan and countless others, establishing ourselves as one of the leading voices in online publishing.
Over the years we have been committed to producing content that inspires and informs our readers; having broadened our content policy to mature into a more general lifestyle magazine that has kept itself rooted in our beginnings whilst covering a multitude of subjects that reflect our growth.
Here’s a quick look at some of our favourite moments over the years…
When We Heart Stopped the Traffic in Rome
Heads are turned. It’s golden hour in the Eternal City and I’m listening intently to instructions that normal people aren’t typically exposed to: keep moving at all times, ignore red lights, ignore all other road users. Shortly I’ll be a thorn in those other drivers’ collective sides, as some 200 of us — divided between over 100 vehicles — blow a hole in their travel plans…
When Fendi Invited Us to the Ball
Alongside yours truly, the unveiling was also attended by various members of the Fendi family — including Anna Fendi; Baguette bag designer Silvia Venturini Fendi; and jewellery designer Delfina Delettrez Fendi — as well as the fashion house’s CEO, Pietro Beccari, and his family. A dinner in honour of the artist was subsequently held at the breathtakingly-beautiful Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna; the first time the gallery had been used for an event like this, the venue made for an utterly unforgettable meal…
When We Watched the Monaco Grand Prix from Mumm’s Own Superyacht
We fly out of Paris to Nice, destination Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat — an opulent five-star cradle of luxuriance just outside Monaco: the spiritual home of F1 and its history of honouring winners; the most iconic of tracks; the wealth and the glamour, and all that brings. This is it, the pinnacle, the zenith that all drivers aspire to. This is the Monaco Grand Prix, in all of its unashamed glory. Yachts, superstars, speedboats, me? Somebody must have made a mistake…
When We Scooped Two Honours at the Lovie Awards
A very big, and very sincere, thank you to all who voted for us, we are adding the people’s choice award to an overall 5th Annual Lovie Award Bronze — selected from around 1,500 entries that flooded in from over 30 European countries. That’s two leading honours, two shiny Lovie Awards, two trophies to hold aloft whilst we blub our gratefulness and indebtedness to you all…
When We Took at 2,000 Kilometre Siberian Road Trip
As Mazda Route3 attempts to deliver the first eight 2014 Mazda3s from their production plant in Japan to September’s Frankfurt auto show. Five days, in deepest, darkest Siberia – Blagoveshchensk to Ulan-Ude. This is our story…
When an Audi With No Driver Had Us Hurtling Toward a Mountain at Almost 200 km/h
And here I am; in the passenger seat of an Audi RS7, scratching my head, as we — Robby and I — hurtle towards a mountain face at 200 km/h. Closer. Closer. Robby turns. Robby turns with precision, and he turns again. And again, twisting through the Parcmotor track. The piloted driving concept knows exactly the point at which its wheels will loose their grip, and reacts with precision. Nothing but bags and bags of technology, and years and years of work is driving me incredibly quickly around a race track in the Catalan countryside. Squeaky bum time…
When We Went Behind the Scenes at the World’s Best Restaurant
We Heart were among a select few to receive a teaser of The Macallan Masters of Taste experience. The first whisky pairing collaboration of its calibre, an experience that dedicated followers of gastronomy would die for. Not only do we get a geniuine insight into the workings of both “masters”, but the chance to snoop around the famous Roca brothers’ kitchen – meeting with their local suppliers to boot.
When We Put on Our Boots and Joined Nike for the Opening of Euro 2016
We’re directly in line with the goal, and the ball seems to hang for an age. It’s like a beautifully-made sportswear commercial, a dramatic slowing of time, crowd silent save for gasps of air. Pause. Pan to a close up on the player’s boots (Mercurials, if you’re asking). Pause. Cut to a flailing goalkeeper. Pause. The crowd erupts…
